"La fête de Nowrouz à Paris", -le nouvel an Iranien- n'est pas uniquement un film ethnologique. Nous écartons les stéréotypes véhiculés par les médias occidentaux : le fanatisme d'une population, les Mollahs barbus ou les femmes voilées..... pour découvrir l'image réelle des Iraniens.
"La fête de Nowrouz..." offre au public un nouveau regard sur l'Iran et les Iraniens, un panorama sur l'histoire contemporaine Iranienne, au travers des personnages clés et exemplaires : Le Prince Kadjar, descendant de la dynastie Kadjar renversée par le régime monarchique de Pahlavi; l'ancien gouverneur général et le Maire de Téhéran de l'époque du Shah, aujourd'hui boulanger à Paris. Puis, le chauffeur de taxi parisien, universitaire de carrière, qui a subi aussi plusieurs années d'emprisonnement pendant le régime du Shah.

J. Golmakani est journaliste-réalisateur d’origine iranienne. En 1977 il commence sa carrière comme rédacteur-photographe à Téhéran. En 1982 il se trouve en France. En 1989 il obtient un Doctorat en cinéma-télévision à la Sorbonne. Sa recherche sur L’image de l’Iran à la télévision française est publiée aux Editions L’Harmattan, préfacé par Marc Ferro. 

Depuis vingt ans il réalise des films documentaires pour la télévision française, notamment :

The Feast of Nowrouz in Paris

The Feast of Nowrouz or Iranian New-Year party, is not only an ethnological film. We have put aside stereotypes broadcast by Western media: the fanaticism among the local population, bearded Mullahs or veiled women... in order to expose a true image of Iranians.
This documentary provides the Western audience with a new angle on Iran and the Iranians, a survey of contemporary Iranian history through key representative characters: Prince Kadjar, a descendant of the Kajar Dynasty overthrown by the royal Pahlavi Dynasty, the former Governor General and mayor of Tehran, during the reign of the Shah, now a baker in Paris. And then the Parisian taxi driver, a university scholar, who also spent several years in prison under the Shah's regime. But, they all stress their common cultural ties during the feast of Nowrouz.

J. Golmakani is an Iranian-French filmmaker, author and journalist. In 1977 he began his career as a photojournalist in Tehran-Iran. In 1982 he immigrated to France where he studied and received a Doctorate in Cinema and Television from Sorbonne University. He is the author of Image of Iran on French Television. Golmakani has produced and directed many documentary films for French television as well as many other television companies outside of France.
